What fascinates you the most in photography?
I was always into art, but when I got pregnant, painting got a lot harder. I couldn’t find time to be alone in the studio. I found photography was more accessible. You can make art in the world around you, you’re not confined to a studio.
What is the best advice you’ve received?
Work hard, be nice to people.
Why did you decide to create a blog?
I started Sketch42.com, in 2008 right after Domino Magazine closed, blogs were just starting up. It felt like a time when people could have a voice and be part of the conversation. Blogging felt like a community back in it’s early days.
How would you describe your design style?
Modern, nostalgic, practical, earthy tones.
What does art mean to you?
The act of creating things in the universe. It can be anything from a painting, to gardening.
What do you expect from the future?
I’d like to bounce around from thing to thing. I’ll see where the future takes me. I just want to keep making things. I’m thankful for the people who keep giving me opportunities.
